Dear Brynna,
I’m writing this letter to you as a 17 year old, 3 years in the future. Right now, life is okay and a lot has changed. I currently have a job serving at a retirement home which is going well. I just started working there a couple of months ago to gain more responsibilities and to have something to do after school. Aside from working, I like going to football games which has made my relationship stronger with my dad. Going to the games with him has brought us closer and has created some good memories. I also enjoy going out with my friends. My friends are a big part of my life. From my friendships and just in general, I’ve learned alot of life lessons that I think you should know.
Through my friendships and the experiences I’ve had, I’ve come to learn some important lessons about life. One of the biggest things I’ve learned was that trust is something you have to give carefully. Not everyone has your best interest at heart, and I’ve realized how important it is to surround myself with people that genuinely care about me. Through different experiences, I’ve noticed that the company you keep shapes your happiness. One of my closest friends is Leah who’s still with me through everything. She always knows how to put a smile on my face, even when I’m having a bad day. I can always count on her for anything. Another friend, Brynna, has taught me the importance of loyalty and trust. She’s stood by me when I’m having bad moments, showing me what it means to have someone supporting and helping me. Both of them have taught me to have more fun and life and not focus on the bad.
Three years ago, I often wondered what the future would be like. What would high school be like? What would life look like? Now I can answer those questions. High school has been okay, over these 3 years I’ve been able to figure out what I want to do after. I know that you always had different ideas of what you could be ranging from a lawyer to a nurse. But I’ve decided that after high school I want to go and study to be a teacher. I feel like I could really enjoy teaching and it’s something that I’m passionate about. I think that my life looks a little different than I imagined it. When I was 14 I thought that by this age I would have a driver’s license, job and a whole bunch of other things. But, life turned out differently and I’ve learned that the future has surprises for us in meaningful ways.
From, Brynna
